Oilfield Instrumentation (OI), along with its sister company, Advanced Building Services (ABS), a provider of custom well-site accommodations, announced the January 15 opening of its second service center in the Eagle Ford shale fields.

The Tilden center follows the westward expansion of drilling activities in the Eagle Ford play and complements the companies’ existing center in Victoria, Texas. The Tilden location of OI will offer 24/7 outfitting and servicing for real-time drilling instrumentation, satellite communication, and rental equipment by trained technicians, as well as delivery and transfer.

ABS will provide steel, skid-mounted rig-site accommodations, and on-call delivery, power-up/down, post-job retrieval and maintenance, and will also offer water hauling. The companies have dedicated five 18-wheelers to this site for equipment transportation, supporting their goals of consistently providing the quickest industry response times.

The OI-ABS service center will occupy 10,000 square feet on a five-acre parcel of land, allowing the companies to provide storage, maintenance and refurbishment services.

“Oilfield Instrumentation and Advanced Building Services are community-oriented employers,” said Peyton Reddick, president of Oilfield Instrumentation. “We have made outright purchases of real estate, equipment inventory and housing in the area in line with our commitment to be a best-in-class organization dedicated to the highest standards of operation.”

The companies also bring employment opportunities to the area, with openings for instrumentation service technicians, CDL truck drivers, and accommodations service technicians. Interested applicants should contact OI Human Resources Director Tom Walker through Oilfield Instrumentation’s website, www.oiusa.com, or ABS’s site, www.oilfieldbuildings.com.

Oilfield Instrumentation announced the expansion of its Bakersfield, California rental fleet to accommodate increasing activity by local clientele.

The newest order for customized MWD units requires OI to deliver six additional units to one customer in the first quarter of 2012. OI opened the Bakersfield service center last year in response to significant new drilling activity in that area.

“Our Bakersfield location continues to prove its value to major producers,” said Peyton Reddick, president of Oilfield Instrumentation. “Our rig-up, rig-down, turn-key solution is a winning offer for fast-moving producers who often need a custom unit quickly.”

Reddick noted that the service center has focused on convenience, requiring only a single email or phone call from the client in order for OI’s knuckleboom crane to have a unit loaded onto an 18-wheeler and dispatched to the client’s site in one hour.

“We offer one-stop shopping for field units, with complete delivery, set-up, maintenance, power-down, storage and refurbishment services available on call. We prove ourselves in this market every day,” Reddick said.

Advanced Building Services (ABS), OI’s sister Company, has been awarded a new five-year contract to provide custom, skid-mounted crew accommodations and field work quarters for three rigs in the Eagle Ford shale region.

The contract includes ABS’s fabrication, transport, rig-up and rig-down services of its custom designed buildings, which are appointed with quality furnishings and appliances. The buildings feature a heavy-duty, 10-gauge steel frame for safety, custom insulation and 3-ton air conditioning units to comfortably accommodate crew members during the scorching summer heat.

“The Eagle Ford shale play is a resource-rich field that is attracting great interest from world-class operators like our client,” said Thomas “Bo” Godfrey, president of Advanced Building Services. “This contract underscores the confidence they place in us to quickly manufacture custom buildings, and provide turnkey logistics, power-ups and 24/7 servicing. Our customers appreciate our ability to handle all the details of logistics and maintenance so they can focus on their own core competencies.”

Advanced Building Services, which manufactures buildings at its Vidalia, Louisiana fabrication plant, will supply Company Rep, Living Quarter and Safety Buildings, as well as delivery of the buildings on its dedicated 18-wheel trucks, and complete set-up and maintenance by certified technicians.

“We do our work so they can do theirs,” Godfrey said. “We take great pride in knowing that the hundreds of new workers coming to this area can be focused on their jobs because we are focused on their safety and comfort.”

ABS continues to expand its footprint across the U.S. in order to consistently improve levels of service. The newest location will open mid-January in Tilden, Texas, offering support for the fulfillment of this new contract as well as servicing other clients. The Tilden service center will be the company’s second location in the Eagle Ford region, with the first being in Victoria.

Oilfield Instrumentation (OI) announced a new company record for its three-week completion of an 8×16-foot, DNV 2.7-1 certified lab for use on a deep-water platform.

OI was able to expedite the custom order for the Riser Control Station by modifying a structure that was in the process of being manufactured for its rental fleet of DNV 2.7-1 certified buildings.

“Oilfield Instrumentation’s goal of continually upgrading and expanding our existing fleet of certified buildings provides customers with opportunities to acquire our high quality structures for their quick-turn upgrade needs,” remarked Peyton Reddick, OI president.

“We recognize there is a very fast-paced environment at work in Gulf operations and we are constantly improving the quality and quantity of our fleet of structures to serve this need. In this situation, our client’s request came at a very opportune time, but this is quite typical of our manufacturing pipeline right now.”

Due to the deadline-driven nature of the building’s design and manufacture, the client’s representatives were invited to view its actual construction on-site. The hands-on collaboration between Oilfield Instrumentation and the client ensured that the design and construction met their specialized needs, while OI provided the expertise needed for certifications.

“We excel in today’s ‘need it yesterday’ atmosphere and we have the equipment, structure and personnel in place to continue providing these sorts of order fulfillment turnarounds,” Reddick said.

Oilfield Instrumentation provides real-time drilling instrumentation, gas detection, and customizable harsh environment labs and buildings to the oil and gas industry. OI currently operates 10 service locations across the United States.

Advanced Building Services Completes Specialized Lab for Newbuild GOM Drillship

OI sister company and manufacturing arm, Advanced Building Services (ABS), a provider of custom-designed well-site accommodations and oilfield buildings, expedited on deadline the completion of a highly customized, 10×30-foot geological/geophysical office for a newbuild, ultra-deepwater drillship in the Gulf of Mexico.

This “G&G” office was the fourth in a series of customized buildings that ABS has manufactured for new drillships in the Gulf. Fabricated to the exacting specifications of a global E&P company, ABS had to attain multiple DNV certifications requiring special coordination during the manufacturing process, and yet still meet strict delivery deadlines coinciding with the arrival of the new, state-of-the-art drillship.

Along the way, ABS demonstrated its operational flexibility to build and deliver the unit during a highly unusual and potentially catastrophic event, the 2011 flood of the Mississippi River along the banks of Vidalia, Louisiana. The Flood’s threat caused ABS to engage many of its 10 other locations for production until the threat subsided.

ABS Operations Manager Alex Mahfouz commented on the special manufacture and delivery:

“Advanced Building Services is pleased to announce this accomplishment for our customer. This demonstrates our commitment to deliver high quality, customized, certified buildings with industry-leading turnaround times, no matter what circumstances challenge our operations.”

The geological/geophysical office buildings are approved by DNV for Class 1, Division 2 locations, with a DNV-approved A-60 fire rating. The buildings include redundant 3-ton air conditioning units with heat and pressurization, and feature an internal layout customized with workstations for geologist research.

“While we believe this fulfillment time for such specialized buildings is already better than current industry lead times, we are on a path to excel even further,” remarked Mahfouz.

Oilfield Instrumentation (OI), a provider of real-time drilling instrumentation and hazardous environment labs, recently announced the promotion of Peyton Reddick, a 14-year veteran of the company, from vice president of operations to president.

Allen Stuart, owner of the company, relinquished his operational duties as president to focus on casting vision and developing new business for the company. “Peyton has demonstrated his dedication to Oilfield Instrumentation as a very effective vice president of operations for both OI and its sister company, Advanced Building Services,” Stuart said. “I have every confidence that he has the type of business acumen and leadership flexibility to take OI to the next levels of growth.”

The move coincides with a shift of focus for OI, from offshore to more land-based operations, a transition required for survival and growth during the Gulf drilling moratorium.

Under Reddick’s leadership, Oilfield Instrumentation recently introduced new technology called Rig Vision Mobile, which allows users to monitor critical well data via their smart phones or mobile devices.

Reddick’s advance also comes with the 2011 opening of two new service centers in California and Oklahoma, bringing its total number of locations to 10. The company has introduced a new website and logo in recent weeks, positioning itself for international and U.S. domestic growth.

Oilfield Instrumentation USA, along with its sister company, Advanced Building Services, Opens Service Facility in Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA (May 5, 2011) – Oilfield Instrumentation USA (OI USA), which provides real-time drilling instrumentation and engineering laboratories to the oil and gas community, and sister company Advanced Building Services (ABS), announced the opening of its new Bakersfield service center to provide Baker Hughes the benefits of its complete engineering lab outsourcing services.

ABS and OI USA owner and CEO Allen Stuart commented on the opening:

“The opening of this facility in California signifies our confidence in the future of oil and gas production in that area, and commitment to respond to higher demands for fuels and increase supply for California consumers in an environmentally responsible manner,” Stuart said. “This facility expands the availability of Oilfield Instrumentation and ABS to exploration and production companies across the continental United States and has the effect of growing our business by geographic expansion.”

Oilfield Instrumentation and ABS are making a substantial investment in the outfitting of its new Bakersfield facility and the equipment that will be needed to service the drilling sites. The facility will service several rigs in the area and is facilitating Baker Hughes’ environmentally friendly drilling techniques that can locate on one acre and drill beneath ground in a 10-acre radius. The investments also will create 6-8 new jobs in an area that has some of the highest unemployment rates in the United States.

“We want the people of Bakersfield to know that Oilfield Instrumentation USA and Advanced Building Services are community-oriented employers,” Stuart said. “We have made outright purchases of real estate, equipment inventory and housing in the area in line with our commitment to be a best-in-class organization dedicated to high standards of operation. We create permanent jobs that benefit the communities we locate near and we stay committed.”

About Oilfield Instrumentation
